Artist's Description
Rudder of the USS Constellation – The first Constellation, a frigate by design, was commissioned in 1797. The second Constellation, a sloop by design was constructed at the Norfolk Navy Yard and commissioned in 1855. After a long and historic career, she was decommissioned and recommissioned several times until finally, in 1968, she was moved to her current location in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor in Maryland.
